Domestic Abuse Practitioner – Family Help

Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-agency family help team based in our family hubs. 

This role is to provide specialist domestic abuse expertise across Bradford Children and Families Trust's Family Help Service, supporting children, young people, and families to improve safety, reduce risk, and strengthen relationships. The post holder will work within Bradford's Family Help model, delivering intervention, whole-family support, and family-led solutions that reduce the impact of domestic abuse and improve outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the specialist domestic abuse practitioner within Family Help, providing advice, consultation, and direct intervention.
  • Undertake Family Help assessments and plans.
  • Deliver targeted interventions with victims, children, young people, and where appropriate, those displaying harmful behaviours.
  • Develop safety plans and implement risk-reduction strategies to safeguard children and adults.
  • Contribute to Family Network Meetings, Team Around the Family Meetings, Child in Need, Child Protection, and Early Help processes.
  • Support families to identify strengths, build resilience, and utilise wider family and community networks.
  • Work in partnership with Social Care, Education, Health, Police, Housing, and specialist domestic abuse services across Bradford.
  • Promote trauma-informed, restorative, and strengths-based practice aligned to Bradford's Family Help approach.
  • Maintain accurate case records, reports, and outcome measures in line with Trust standards.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues to strengthen domestic abuse practice across Family Help.

About you:

  • A relevant professional qualification in social work, youth work, counselling, social care, community work, domestic abuse, health or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience of working directly with families who are affected by domestic abuse.
  • Experience of conducting assessments and managing risk.
  • Experience of delivering interventions to children, young people and adults.
  • Experience of effective multi-agency working.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate case records and reports.
  • Experience of working within safeguarding frameworks.
