Job Introduction

Payment: £180 per day (travelling time not paid for) plus Mileage/parking/public transport costs.

Location: Fostering Service, Sir Henry Mitchell House, 4 Manchester Road, Bradford, BD5 0QL 

We are seeking to appoint Independent Fostering Panel members for our four Fostering Panels that meet in person every Thursday.

Bradford is a large metropolitan area which has a diverse population with a significant population of children and young people who are looked after.

Bradford Children and Families Trust is proud to have a large and well-regarded Fostering Service.  We have specialist teams that support a variety of activity that includes recruitment and assessment, Kinship, as well as long and short term fostering teams. We also have teams supporting carers who provide short breaks for children with disabilities/complex health needs. 

There are multi-agency approaches to promoting positive outcomes for children and young people who are looked after. We are also working on a range of initiatives to promote the participation of children and young people who are looked after and we are committed to securing permanence for all children and young people who are looked after.

Due to current under-representation on our panels, we would particularly welcome applications if you are from a Global Majority background.

We would also particularly welcome applications from people with:

• Personal experience of being a Kinship Carer or Special Guardian (for kinship carers this cannot be with Bradford Children and Families Trust)
• Personal experience of having been a looked after child
• Professional experience within health or education

Independent Fostering Panels members cannot be employed by Bradford Children and Families Trust.

Enhanced DBS clearance is necessary for this role. 

Successful applicants will be subject to an annual appraisal and will be required to attend fostering panel training at least once per year.
