About The Role
We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic full time (JNC / Level 6 relevant qualifications) youth workers to join us on this exciting and growing initiative to work with young people who are at risk / who are being criminally exploited and the edges of / involved in serious organised and violent crime and those who are struggling with attendance within Education provisions.
Youth Workers who are interested in this opportunity must have extensive experience of working with young people in a range of diverse settings, including detached / street based and within partnership provision. The successful candidates will work in upstream provision and / or hold a caseload of young people who are all extremely vulnerable and who have been referred into the project.
The post holder will play a significant role in the oversight, safety management and harm reduction of a high number of complex cases and be able to evidence sound safety planning alongside other professionals for this vulnerable cohort of young people.
The post holder will be confident of their ability to engage and build solid voluntary relationships with some of our districts most vulnerable young people, and of working in environments which at times may be hostile.
Key Responsibilities
We require Youth Workers who are resilient self-starters, able to be creative and work on their own initiative but as in integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working with colleagues from Education the Youth Justice Service, West Yorkshire Police, Children’s Social Care, Health care practitioners and other partners of the Exploitation Hub, the Community Safety and Bradford Safeguarding Partnership. You need to be confident to hold difficult conversations and to bring about positive change in young people’s behaviours and attitudes.
Successful candidates will have a proven track record of making a difference to the lives of young people, particularly those who are exploited, who are vulnerable and who struggle with engagement with education and other agencies.
We are looking for immediate start dates and capability to pick up a 1-1 case load of individuals who will be at different parts of their journey in Breaking the Cycle of exploitation and poor educational attendance. An enthusiasm to make a difference, a flexible approach and a willingness to travel are essential for anyone considering the posts. Workers must be able to work unsociable hours including early mornings, during the daytime, evening and occasional weekends.
